Imagine you are doing your favorite activity and you suddenly get a very cool idea and decide to write something about it. You pick up your pencil and grab a piece of paper and start writing. When it comes to writing fiction, the process can be somewhat long. But in the end it is often worth it. You just need to have an idea and decide what  type of fiction you want and then you can get the ball rolling. The only limit to what you  write is your imagination.

When you start writing fiction, you have to do a few things to prepare first. First, you need to brainstorm a list of ideas. This helps because it helps you think freely about  all the ideas you can use and then choose what you think is the best one to use. And you can also go back if you wind up needing to choose a better idea. Second, you  should decide what type of fictional writing you want to do, whether it is a story or poem or another form of fiction. Third, depending on what your writing will be about, you may  need to do some research. This helps you find more details to add into your writing.  Fourth, it can be a good idea to make a plan for your writing to help organize or remember the information you want to include.

Now, you are ready to start writing, but there are still a few steps to follow. First, decide if you want to type it up or write it first. It does not really matter which one you choose, but you still need to choose. Second, use your plan to write your first draft. Do not worry about it getting it perfect because you can always go back and revise. And you will often have to make several drafts before you're done. Third, you can revise on your own or with others. If you ask for help, that would be good because more eyes means you are more likely to catch mistakes in grammar, or spelling for example. You can also get suggestions on things that could help your writing. Fourth, when you are done, if you wrote it, make a final clean copy. If you typed it, you can just be done. Now, you can publish it, show it to friends, or just keep it. It is up to you what you decide.

These are the steps that I, and many other people, use to write successfully. Even though you need several things to do it and it takes a while, you’ll likely find it was worth it. You need an idea to build off of. You need to know what kind of fictional writing you want. Then, when you're done writing it, you can do whatever you want with it. And so long as you have fun, you should continue writing.
