I was on my computer, looking for cat toys and other things for my kitten when there was a knock on my door.
“It’s open.” I called, keeping my eyes on my computer, one hand in my lap on top of the kitten.
The door opened and Caeden stepped through, followed by Tia.
“Where is the kitten?” Tia asked excitedly.
“Mine!” I said as I angled my chair away from her.
“Please let me see it.” Tia begged.
“Fine.” I turned back around and Tia squealed.
“It's soooo cute! Have you named it yet?” she asked.
“No not yet. But I'm thinking of naming it Oreo, because it's white with black spots.”
“That would be a nice name.” Caeden spoke for the first time since he came in.
“Yeah!” Tia agreed.
“Then her name is now Oreo.” I stroked the kitten gently, “Do you like that name, Oreo?”
The kitten purred and jumped onto my desk and sat down. I smiled and turned to my brother and friend.
“Anything else you two need?” I asked.
“Not really.” Caeden shrugged, “Tia just really wanted to see the kitten.”
“Ahh.” I nodded, “well shoo. I need to sleep.”
“You mean finish shopping?”
“That too.” I chuckled. they left my room, although Tia had to be pushed away from Oreo to get her out. I turned back to my computer screen and Oreo curiously sniffed at the screen.
"You want to pick out a few things, Oreo?" I laughed.
Oreo mewed in response and pawed at the screen. I looked where she was pawing, and my mouth formed a silent O. I clicked on my emails tab and opened the newest email. It read:
Lyn Wright,
if you continue following Titania Bonan's campaign, we will have no choice but to kill you. if you step away quietly, we will spare you.
Anonymous.
I rolled my eyes and replied:
Nick,
You are horrible at writing threatening emails. find something else to do. I'm not falling for this.
Lyn
The reply was immediate:
Lyn,
How did you guess so fast?!
Nick
I laughed and replied once more before turning off my computer and crawling into bed:
Nick,
I recognized your email. duh.
