“Well. that was fun.” I grinned, looking at my fellow news reporters.
“Fun?!” Tia said incredulously.
“Based on Lyn's standards, that was fun.” Caeden supplied. “And why were you screaming so much Tia? I could hear you over the engines.”
“She was driving like there was a pack of zombies right on our heels!” Tia exclaimed.
“Well that’s in the past. Let’s try to get in there shall we?” I nodded toward the hastily built walls surrounding Titania’s ranch.
“Yeah.” Caeden sighed as he gazed around the area. Everything around the ranch had been burned after the outbreak. Couldn’t leave anything that could’ve been exposed where people or other animals might walk on in the future. The ranch had been rated a level 3 hazard zone. You have to have special licenses to get into level 5 hazard zones to level 3 hazard zones. You need an even more special license to enter level 2 or level 1 hazard zones that is both expensive and very hard to get. But when you enter either of those, you could be shot on sight or have a bleach shower for 30-40 minutes. Neither are fun. Thankfully, me and Caeden only get licenses when we feel it necessary and we feel that we don’t need the license to enter level one or two hazard zones. But we can enter level 3 all the way up to level 10 hazard zones.
“First. Any idea where it might have started?” I asked as we started towards the ranch.
“Where they keep the youngest sheep.” Caeden suggested.
“Where they keep the eldest sheep.” Tia glanced at Caeden.
“Wrong and wrong.” I smiled, “It started in the barn where they keep the middle aged and most healthy sheep.”
Oreo squirmed into the bag on my shoulder as we got closer to the wall. She knows that she likely would not be able to get in fairly, so she has to sneak in. She knew she also had to keep still so the guards wouldn’t know she was there. I smiled pleasantly as we got up to the guard station.
“Hi! We’re the journalist crew for Titania Krina. She gave us permission to come investigate what happened here.” I held up my badge. Tia and Caeden followed suit.
“Please press your hand on the testing kit. You will enter one at a time.” The voice came from the closest of the two guards.
“Alright.” I stepped up to the kit and as the lights settled in green, I stepped through.
“Alright. Let's start our search where the people slept, and the barns where the youngest and eldest sheep were kept. Tia, you take the barn for the eldest sheep. Caeden, you take the youngest. I’ll look at where the people slept. If you find something, scream. When we’re done, meet up outside the barn where it started.” we all nodded and headed off towards our respective locations.
I told them to scream not so that the others could come to help. I told them to scream so the others had time to get away. Although, I don’t normally run away. I go toward the screaming because I'm a Brayler and that's what we do. Also, it is more likely that I will find great footage to post if I head towards the danger instead of away from it. All though Caeden may do the same, just more reluctantly. Tia will likely run away. She will face danger if there is no way to avoid it, but if there is a choice, she will always get away. But we still manage just fine as a team.
